Makriyalos Just along the coast from Ierapetra, situated in the south east of Crete, Makriyalos has a great beach and the village is grown into a lively resort, with several choices of places to eat and drink. 'Makri' means long and 'yalos' means shore and the long sandy beach.with it's shallow, warm water offers safe swimming for all. The south coast bus runs through the village or your can hire a car if you want to explore a little, but Makriyalos is the perfect choice for those that want to relax and enjoy the simple things in life.. Beachside lunches of fish and salad and then dinner under the stars overlooking the old harbour, followed by a drink or two...
